Any country is likely to implement new reforms
when there is a problem or fault with the previous one. Recently Kazakhstan has
initiated some more reforms for the following years.
According to the news on tumba.kz the system of
education is going to change dramatically. All the changes are going to start
in September, 2015 and by 2026 the education system of Kazakhstan will be
totally different. For instance, from September, 2016 all first year pupils
will have a course called “Introduction to Science”, that might be helpful in
awakening and developing interest in science of pupils. Moreover, the Ministry
of Education of Kazakhstan promises to implement a subject that will encompass
drawing, music, and the subject of manual work – the subject will be called “Art”
and will cover all other three subjects. Another novelty will be launched in
2017 and 2018 academic years – pupils of second and third grades will have a
subject of “Information and Communication Technologies”. This subject is aimed
not only at developing computer skills in students, but also analytical skills
that will develop searching, evaluating, and analyzing skills in students
(tumba.kz). You know that students start taking subjects of Physics,
Chemistry, and Biology only at the sixth and seventh grades. However, the
Ministry of Education claims that pupils will start taking those subjects from
the fifth grade from 2020. The most significant point about the reforms is that
the number of mandatory subjects will be reduced and pupils will be able to
choose the subjects they are willing to take (tumba.kz). This system of
education is more democratic and it seems as if it will prepare its students
for future university and research life.
To sum up, it is not an exact declaration of
the reforms but plans and aims for future. But how effective are they? Do you
think that a huge number of reforms reduces the quality of education or works
for better quality?
