Moral Education First!

Dear All!

This post is dedicated to one young guy, Alibi, live Alibi.

As usual my morning started from checking mail, facebook and instagram. The information is shocking,
Alibi was bitten by elder men. I cannot save tears and pain insight of me.  I do not want to describe the story, because it is heartbreaking. However I want to talk about moral and ethical issues in reality, not only in academia.

The majority of GSE students are women. This message is for mothers, sister, friends, and daughters. We are responsible for moral education of the country! It is not big words, it is in our power! Moral education is the formation of concepts, judgments, feelings, and beliefs, skills, and habits of behavior, corresponding norms of the society (Smirnova, 2010, p.3).

There are different ways and methods to up bring the child. I want to emphasis on the role model. Our children are sponges. They repeat everything. Scientists assure that the education of children, in general, is mostly based on imitations (Kozlov, 2015). Thus, the identity of parents and teachers is essential to the child. It is these people in most cases, the children are trying to emulate. You understand that the moral character of such people should be high enough. After all information coming from the parents, the child sees the behavior as an unquestionable truth. So try to be perfect enough in order to be model of moral learning. Traditionally, there are differences in male and female approach to the education of morality: female approach focuses on caring, mercy, compassion, pity and other valuables humanistic approach (Sukhomlinsky as cited in Kozlov,2015.), while men prefer moral duty: demanding , order and responsibility (Makarenko as cited in Kozlov, 2015). Everyone can interpret it how they like, but the general idea is to be a human being, not an animal!

It is crucial to be well educated, but the understanding and acceptance of moral values more important. Life is important. There are different approaches for men and women, but we live in one earth together. It is in our hand to prevent our children to do wrong things.

  1. Thank you for this post, Assel.

It was really difficult for me to concentrate on my studying when I read these sad news. I completely agree with you that our society now is losing its main values. We as the role models for our sisters and brothers should be responsible for moral education in our family and country. Sometimes it is so hard to believe in justice. Sometimes I feel myself so helpless. But in case of Alibi, I srtongly believe in our society. Let's be active citizens and help Zhumagulov's family!

  2. Cruel and inhuman action. What angry and “crazy” the “person” should be to do this! And what serious the reason for this action should be! But even if the reason is vital, is it excuse for being a monster. In such situation, some people say that it happens due to lack of upbringing in the family. However, there are a lot of occasion when children whose parents take care of them, love, support and give attention do crime, which is impossible to understand and acquit. Then, what makes them to decide, “who should live and who should die.” Is moral education implemented in curriculum in some educational institutions enough for bringing up “morally healthy” individuals? What else can be done to avoid this crucial issue? These questions are still open to hot discussion.

    1. The question ‘’what makes people decide who should live and who should die?” worries me as well. We considered that upbringing does not solve the problem completely so what should we do then? We may blame parents, educational institutions, environment, the government but what if the cause as well as the solution is in a human beings themselves?
Why in the earth a human being should not kill others? And, if he does so, it is considered as wrong and he will be punished by his society. This fear of being punished is one of restraints that keep people from harming others. Now if a person reaches a certain level of power that allows him escape the punishment for a crime, why must he limit himself in doing whatever he wants? Who cares if there is no any borders anymore?
It seems that government, educational institutions, religion only restrict a human being from violent behavior but still unable to change the nature of homo sapiens that cannot be only kind and harmless.

  3. Thank you, Assel! It is really difficult to acquire that human being does such horrible things. Watching news, you started to afraid for your life and the lives of your relatives. The first thought coming to my mind was: " is there any constitution and law in Kazakhstan that works for people, not for people in the top?'' And you start to think that this situation is not only between those tyrant-businessman and young man, this situation leads to opening more global issues that occurs in Kazakhstan. you caught yourself in mind that today this young boy, tomorrow another boy or girl will suffer from lawlesness and fearlessness in the country. you start to afraid that this boy will be your sun...
