Why communication is significant?
Communication and language are different terms. However, language is a tool for communicating and type of communication. They are different and simultaneously similar.
Communication- is a way of comprehending the languages between two or more social beings, animals, insect or etc. If to take the case of people on the Earth, they all have to communicate with each other. For this reason, they have to use a variety of languages. It is not necessarily to use one type of spoken or written language of one country or one nation. People can also communicate by body language and sign language (Beukelman and Mirenda, 1998). For example, if we imagine two deaf and mute people in a mall, they will definitely understand each other through sign language. However, in order to offer something from the shop assistant, they will need a help of someone who knows that exact language because, they will simply not get a desired product. The conclusion of this situation is that communication and the language are closely interrelated between each other.
Language is a communicator. Language is a link between sender of an information and receiver.  In order to understand another person, animal or other species, we have to be informed about their language.Communication can be verbal or non-verbal. To the verbal type of communication we can refer all languages where we use lips, tongue, teeth and the other sound producing organs.   Picture retrieved from http://www.dynavoxtech.com
Non-verbal type of communication is when we do not use languages and sound producing organs. For example, eye contact is the type of non-verbal communication. Because, with the help of our eyes we can send our emotions and feeling as an information or even if we use language but without eye contact, we can lose the information and the attention of an auditorium and the meaning in general.
Most scholars do agree that by the age of four, human being are capable to use oral language and by the age of six, they can produce their meaningful sentences and comprehend written language. These brilliant communicating abilities differentiate people from animals. However, here we can raise an obvious question, as where people obtain these kinds of communicating skills and why animals do not?  The answer can be found in the brains of people.
Greeks found that brain damage can lead to the loss of the speech. For instance, the investigation by Marc Dax in 1836, who had a patient with the only single utter in his speech “tan”. After his death, the doctor found out that the brain part called Broca’s area was damaged. So he explained the situation that a person who has a brain damage simply unable to construct a clear speech, while he can understand a speech of another people (The Origin of Language
And Communication, 2003).
Nowadays, the world has about 7000 languages. Globalization process takes place in every country and every family. The technology has been developed almost to the highest level. People are engaged to the political, social, behavioral and psychological issues in the society. All these mentioned things are happening because of the human language. Without language and communication, human being is simply unable to join each other and be a one country or nation. The vital definition or the country is the language of the country. The word communication is from the word community. That is why, we can’t divide community, language and communication from each other.

  1. Thank you for this interesting post. I genuinely believe that communication is a driver of new ideas and development of human capacity. I just recently found that there are several schools in the USA where students spend most of their time socializing with each other. The main idea of this school is that students can develop their critical thinking, communicative skills and creativity only by talking to each other on different topics. Ordinary schools constrain students from communicating with each other and make some of them to be afraid of expressing their opinions. The environment itself has to foster students’ communication and involve them is networks of different individuals.
